I arranged a piece of music using Finale back in the year 2000, I have the most recent version of Finale on my computer (26.3.1.520 running Windows 10) but have come up with a problem on just that one piece.

On playback all goes well at the start the tempo is set at 54 BPM, there is a poco rall which it plays (overdone but I can live with that) then an a tempo starting 3 1/2 beats into the bar which takes it nicely back to 54 BPM.

All fine I hear you say.

Then there is another poco rall (which again it overdoes but that is ok) followed by another a tempo starting 3 1/2 beats into the bar which again it takes it back to 54 BPM but only up to the end of the bar when inexplicably the tempo changes to 108 BPM on the next barline although the playback shows 54 BPM.

I have tried putting a new tempo marking in and hiding it, copying the whole score to a new template but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas anyone?  other than pull the rest of my hair out.

Thanks for your help as always.

Thanks for your reply Mike Rosen. Sorry to be thick but how do I get to where you suggest?

Select the entire score.

With the selection tool, right-click in a staff.

From the drop-down menu, choose Clear Selected Items...

In the next screen, first click None. Then click MIDI Data. OK.

Thanks Mike, Just tried that and it still does it, I can usually find things like this and sort them but this one has got me stumped.

You may have encountered one of the occasional buggy behaviors of the tempo in Finale.

Suggestions to try :

Don't use Human Playback.

Delete the measure, recreate it and and re-enter the music.
