The long awaited upgrade to SmartScore X2 Pro and SmartScore Lite is finally out. There’s a video and a 30 day demo

Finale and PrintMusic owners have always been eligible for the Pro edition at half price. Now other editions are also being offered to Finale users at a discount.

I’ve been waiting for this before I upgrade my OS to Catalina.

As have I. So far, SS64 seems to work pretty well. Of course, I have some minor gripes about the major changes in the GUI, but I’m a big boy; I’ll adjust.

I haven’t had anything to work on, to check if recognition is improved.

The only real problem (confirmed by another user) is that scrolling with the Apple Magic Mouse is hypersensitive, and the slightest touch sends 2 or 3 systems flying by. However, using a Logitech USB mouse with a scroll wheel is perfect.

I’ll know soon enough if the Magic TrackPad 2 is an issue. I still keep an old Logitech Trackball Velcro’d to my desk just in case. Step one: export to .pdf and import all my remaining un-scanned Encore scores.

It used to be that I rarely scanned anything. Now that I am doing multiple virtual choirs, scanning to create guide tracks for my singers is a major time saver. SS X2P wasn’t bad but I hope this is better. I had a High Sierra boot drive for my MacBook for scanning—now it can be repurposed.

My main input device is an Apple Magic TrackPad II — a bit sensitive but not overly twitchy here. I keep an ancient Logitech Trackball Velcro'd to the desk and it works fine with SS64.

There are some things to get used to and a few what the??? issues but overall, it's very good. Text and expressions have been flawless in the files I've scanned and converted so far. It still wants to see .tiff but old .pdf files import much better than SS X2P.

Among the issues is that it converts chord symbols to guitar fretboards. I'm hoping that's a setting I can change. Another is that MusicXML support is for 3.0. Huh? 3.1 was released Dec. 2017. C'mon... Not a deal breaker, though.

That’s nothing! How long has CMD-Q been a universal shortcut for Quit?

Even though it says so in the menu, instead of quitting, it launches the magnifier!

I ordered the CD version on 8/11. A receipt arrived at once in my e-mail, but the promised link to download within 48 hours has yet to arrive.

Puzzling. Glad my need was not crucial.

Call them, Adrian. Unlike Finale, they actually answer the phone.

I was stung by IK Multimedia a few months ago… I ordered media for an upgrade and waited nearly a month for it to be shipped from Spain  (?!?!). No download was available until my USB drive arrived and I registered my upgrade serial# — then my products and upgrades showed up in my user account immediately. What the????

For this, as I was doing an upgrade, I opted for download only and got it quickly.
