Smart Score Lite hasn't been bundled with Finale since v. 2014. There are many, many threads on this over the years, a few of them recent. These threads from three weeks ago are as good as any.

My congratulations to you, Tom, for downloading the free trial version of Finale.

I cannot tell you how many people buy the software first and only then vent on the forums (for other software if not here for Finale) when it does not do what they want.

As Mike says, scanning/OCR-type software no longer comes with Finale; and although quite a few users have asked for its return, I (from a long-time layman's point of view here) do not expect that to happen.

And, as I have said many times, the lite version that came with Finale was not a good example of what scanning can do for you. Go for one of the full-featured scanning apps, and spend the time to learn how to use them. You will be glad you did.
