Using Version 25.5.0.290 on Windows 10

The playback sound of the two manual pipe organ is simply awful - it sounds more like a cross between a toy piano and a string bass! When so many of the other Finale 'voices' are so true to life, why is the pipe organ sound so bad?   Sorry to be negative when I am such a fan of Finale, but this is not new. For instance I notice there was a dialogue about pipe organ sound and dynamics three years ago and the promise to 'raise a ticket'. where did that get to?

Anything “promised” in the last few years can be forgotten. The people who worked there are gone, and the remaining staff has little to no clue.

Oh! That sounds sad, Mike. Does that mean the Finale we know and love is an orphan left high and dry? Whatever, do you/anyone know about the pipe organ sound? I'm hoping it might just be used error

Don't worry about how you think you want to do this. Instead, concentrate on what you want to accomplish.

The ARIA Player is your friend because it can play Sound Font (sf2) libraries. You know who else is your friend? All those recording engineers, students and hobbyists out there who decided that their local cathedral, concert hall, pump organ etc. needed to be sampled and made available. Tons of them out there, many are free.

Yes, there are many commercial libraries out there, too, but if you have time on your hands and want to have some fun, Google free organ sound font and then plan to spend a lot of time downloading and auditioning.

Oh, they're not hard to make if you really have time on your hands and there's an organ you want to sample.

Thanks Mike. Yes, that does sound a fun project and I might have a go. I was just hoping for 'one stop shopping' and not have to look elsewhere to meet my needs - laying down a click track for our church band and singers to record from their homes (still :( ) for upcoming Christmas services.  Finale has served me very well indeed doing this so far, but I didn't need a pipe organ sound before.

Sounds brilliant.   Excuse me being rude, but do I have to pay for it, and if so, how much?!

As Adrian points out, the commercial libraries are glad to help you out. Also, besides the organ in GIFF, there are four the General MIDI organs.

Welcome to my world since March. On one hand, I have 2–4 church gigs a week. OTOH, this online music making takes so much time. I'm the choir director at one; praise band director at another and get gigs from 3 others in the area.

After generating tracks, getting them back and editing, I hold a Zoom Karaoke session so that the congregations can see their groups. The audio is way out of sync, of course but I go into a video editor, strip out the Zoom audio, add the edited audio and sync. Done. This process took me 15 minutes once — usually less. Having the congregations see their music groups keeps up morale big time. As I tell my church councils, "We hold a fellowship hour and a half every week. We call it a choir rehearsal but all the work gets done offline."

GIFF comes with Finale but is an additional download. You may or may not have it installed already (if you only authorized the demo, you don't). More complete documentation is in your Help Files but this gives an overview.

The Aria Player installs at the same time.

All of us assumed you knew this before your first post. Silly us…
