Totally new problem.

Trying to type lyrics into the score.  Im in the correct layer, click the note and begin typing and it goes as expected until the end of the measure.  The insertion point will not pass into the next measure.  If I click on beat one of the next measure I can type fine until the next barline, then it stops again.  Never had this problem before.  I am using the latest version on a windows 10 machine that is about 6 months old.   There are two settings which i fooled with today.  I changed the noteheads to create a short shape note example.  After the lyrics started acting up, I reset all of the preferences and restarted finale and it is still doing the same thing.  I can work around it by click assigning it, but not nearly as convenient.

Any help is appreciated

What version of Finale are you using?

What happens if you type lyrics into the edit screen and CTRL+CLICK on the first note of a stanza in Click-Assignmernt mode? Does the one-measure limitation apply then?

I think I remember that happening sometime in the distant past. Double check that you are in the correct layer.

If it's still acting up, recreate the preferences.

You can send the file to me, if you like. My email is in my signature.

Hi guys, thanks for responding. Using 26.3.1

Dell vostro 5590

So I reverted preferences back and restarted. Typing lyrics worked for a bit then it started behaving as described earlier. Then I switched to click into score and that worked, then the type into score worked for a bit, then it stopped again. I dont know what the ctrl-click step you mentioned earlier does and o havent tried it. As it stands now, I have this particular piece finished, but still welcome suggestions.

Btw. Mike I'm a long time barbershopper.
Direct Winston-Salem nc and Pinehurst nc chapters.

Thanks for y'alls help

Also, after I did the preference restore, it is really slow opening up the application.

Did you restart the computer? Sometimes that helps.

Did you try it? That would show you what it does.

Adrian,

Is that the “flow” function? On a Mac, it’s Option-click.
