In the past, I ran my DAC at 48kHz and  Finale was setup to run ASIO, with 48kHz.   All worked.  Until recently.

Today, upon start up, Finale will change the sample rate on my DAC to 192kHz, yet at the same time keep the Finale->Device Audio->Audio Setup to 48kHz.  Sometimes upon start up, Finale will change the DAC to 88kHz.  I looked into the Finalemidi.ini and I can see it set to 48kHz.

When I start Finale, I can watch the lights on my DAC change the sample rate from X to 48kHz(what I want) and back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, until Finale has stopped loading.  Every once in a while it will stop at 48kHz, but most of the time it is at a Hz I do not want.

I have uninstalled Finale and reinstalled.  Strange  things started to happen around Nov last year.   The sample rate only changes when I start Finale.  Even when I switch to Direct Sound.  I save, close Finale.  Re-open finale and it is back to ASIO again.

How do I get Finale stop messing with the Sample rate?

Figure out the real problem. It is definitely something but not what you think it is. My Windows experience ended with 7 so I don't know what's going on other than that Finale hasn't had an update in many months. If this were a Finale issue, people would be screaming about it here.

BTW, Finale messing with the sample rate is an old, known issue, fixed in the 2014.5 update. That one was changing back to 44.1k after another app needed 48k. What a pain and it took many years to resolve.

Yours is something else.

I'm pretty sure it Finale.

Like you said, they don't support ASIO.

In the end, the ASIO driver goes all hell when running in Finale.

Btw, no other app is running.
