I am scoring my 3rd symphony.  Within the first movement at m. 150 I would like to add harp to the score.  Is there a way to do this without having 149 measure rests where I can have the harp added at m. 150-? for that duration of the harp since it is only needed for like 30 measures?

You still need the “149 measure rests” in the part - even if you hide them in the score.

 

The general solution in Finale:

1) Add the Harp to all the measures in the entire Finale document.

2) Hide the Harp in Page View of the score where you do not need it to show. This is done with the Staff Tool.

3) You can still see the Harp everywhere in Scroll View.
