Recently installed finale on Mac...speedy note entry defaults to rests?

If I recall correctly, make sure that Use MIDI Device for Input is not checked.

Greg,

 

Are you trying to enter notes via a MIDI keyboard (which is not able to send info to the program) or are you trying to enter pitches via the typewriter keyboard (which is what Mike is guessing)?
