Windows 10, Finale 27.4.1.110    In 4/4, I prefer a quarter note on the and of 1 or on the and of 3 to appear as a quarter note.  (On the and of 2 or 4, it would appear as two eighth notes tied together.)    Hyperscribe does not seem able to do that.  I only recently noticed this.

That is the way it is.

You will have to adjust the rhythm layout manually.

You can copy/paste a measure with the needed layout:

8th - 4tr - {8th-tie-8th} - 4tr - 8th

To adjust the note pitches, use the Simple Entry Tool’s sub-tool Repitch Tool.

You can enter notes that way in Simple Entry but changing the rhythm after the fact? I'm with Peter and don't think it can be done other than manually.

A time saver for me is to have a doc with odd rhythms that I might use in a piece open on another monitor. Copy the measures from one into the other and use Repitch to change notes.

For a lot of the work I do, Repitch is my favorite tool in Finale.

Thank you once again, Peter and Mike.   This is my first encounter with "REPITCH," since I have never used "Simple Entry" (always "speedy" or "Hyperscribe.")   But I'll sure give it a try.

For anyone else who is listening, here is info on "repitch."   https://www.finalemusic.com/blog/finales-re-pitch-tool/

That link tells you how to use a MIDI keyboard. All well and good for passages but, to correct a few notes or measures, you can also use the mouse. Click on Repitch, now click onto the line or space to where you want the note to move. No dragging; it moves instantly.

Repitch is why I’m still liking Finale in spite of… well… so many other issues.
