I have 2 versions of Finale - 2012 and 27. I prefer 2012. But I have to reinstall my operating system on my PC. Then I have to reinstall both versions of Finale. Finale is acting like this is a new installation and is asking for me to authorize the program. It won't allow me to save or print files untill the authorization is complete. None of the old authorization numbers I have are working. I know the serial number (I've had since 2001). But it's asking for an authorization code which I don't have. Any suggestions on hiow I can continue using the program?

Did you de-authorize the programs on your old computer? If you used up your allowed number of authorizations, then you can't authorize more.

The first thing to do is to go to your account on finale music.com, where you can manage your authorizations, for each version.

I run Finale 2012 on Windows since 2013 . I can not run my second authorisation under Catalina (MacOS 10.15.7) on my Mac because  it requires a 64 bits version . I loaded it, but as this update does not find the authorised Finale 2012, nothing works . No chance, Makemusic stopped Finale development and technical support ...

Anyone an idea ?  Sylvain ignore

Plain and simple, you can't run your Finale 2012 on Catalina.

You will have to find a newer version of Finale, 26 or 27. Possibly someone who has given up on Finale completely and moved to MuseScore, Dorico, or Sibelius would give or sell you their authorized version. Maybe even try eBay. But that could lead to other problems I'm not aware of.

I moved to MuseScore when Finale shut down. But I still need it for a single plugin: JW Staff Polyphony. Everything else I do, MuseScore does it as well - and in many cases, better - then Finale did. You might consider it!
