Installation woes: This Ain't Right

I downloaded F27. I deleted the demo. Installation went fine, no problem. (I'm still not using it.)

I went to F26, and tried to import an XML. It didn't work, which we thought was an issue with the F27 demo, but evidently it's more widespread.

I deleted F26, and went back to my Account. I downloaded another copy of F26, and started to install it. Then I noticed that the EULA was dated 2021. Thinking I made a mistake, I deleted any Finale installs from my Downloads file, and went back to my account. I know damn well that I downloaded F26. Once again, I saw the wrong date, but this time, I thought they might have backdated the EULA, so I went through with the install. It installed F27 again.

I will be screaming at tech support. Did nobody think it might be a problem, when both F26 and F27 install packages are just called Finale?

As I did in that other thread, I'll suggest renaming the current version to Finale27.app before trying to reinstall 26. Since both apps have the same installed name, it should prevent overwriting.

I'm assuming that you clicked on Previous Versions in your account before downloading 26, right?

I went into yesterday's Time Machine and grabbed F26 from there. I renamed it as Finale26 in the apps folder, and all seems good, for the moment. I'm waiting on installing 27.

In my copy of 26, .xml files open through the Import menu or by double-clicking. In Get Info, I still have 26 listed as the default app.

Again, the purchased version ts a different download than the demo that I never installed. Both are working fine for me.

Ho scaricato il nuovo Upgrade di Finale. Ma non è adatto al mio Windows 7 professional. Non ho visto in nessun avviso un avvertimento dell'incompatibilità col nuovo Finale. Cosa devo fare? Grazie.

I have downloaded the new Finale Upgrade. But it is not suitable for my Windows 7 professional. I have not seen in any notice a warning of incompatibility with the new Finale. What should I do? Thank you.

The system requirements are listed at Finale Notation Software System Requirements – MakeMusic Help Center (zendesk.com)

The minimum version of Windows is listed as 8.1, probably because Windows 7 went out of support about 18 months ago - see Windows 7 End of Support Info - Microsoft

The simplest options would be to either upgrade Windows to version 10, or to return Finale 27 for a refund.
