Hello.

This has been happening to me for many years and with none of the final spacing functions this problem is solved, not even with plug-ins. The only solution is to decrease the measures per staff, but sometimes I don't want to. Collisions between diesis and bequadro and notes, between different layers.

See the image below. Thank you!

If you don't want to reduce the number of measures, how would you like to see the illustrated measures respaced? Can you manually move them to satisfy yourself, while still maintaining general spacing rules?

If this has been happening for years, which version of Finale are you using, and what is your computer's Operating System and version?

Danilo Comitini,

{Accidental spacing between layers} is a well known Finale issue.

Finale will make space for the accidental if the accidental note and the note before it are in the same layer.

Your attached example can be fixed via a clever use of Layer 1 and Layer 2 where at some places Layer 1 is “lower”, and Layer 2 is “upper”:

At those places you will have to flip the stem direction (hit the letter L key), but the layout can be created quickly.

Thank you all.

For Mike Rosen: yes, I can manually move the notes, but if this happens many times it takes too long. To answer your question, if I block 4 measures on a staff and select them, I have several possibilities to space the notes differently, without any manual modification. The plug-ins provide a lot of spacing possibilities, but these collisions are not resolved, I mean the ones between multiple levels.

To answer: I use Windows 10 with Finale 25, before I used final 2012, before 2009, before 2005, before 2000, before 95 on floppy disk.

It's very strange, anyway, that the problem cannot be solved with the final functions.

Thank you.

could they solve it?

You need to realize if there isn't enough space it isn't Finales fault. The suggestion about "clever use of Layer 1 and Layer 2' is exactly what I do.

I was a skeptic at first but since I bought it and have used it for quite a while now I would not want to be without Perfect Layout.

It should be a standard feature included with Finale.
