Your problem is a new one to me.

Have not heard about that one before.

1) Is the November2 font added to the font list in the text file MacSymbolFonts.txt ? (in the sub-folder Configuration Files)

2) Does the Font Annotation folder have a .fan file for the November2 font ?

November2 has glyphs in the SMuFL and "legacy" character positions. Old documents will use the 'legacy' characters, but Finale 27 might think that November2 is a SMuFL font (if you've installed the JSON file), and so be in an ambivalent state.

The position of whole rest symbols is different for the two systems. 

I don't think you should add November2 to the MacSymbolFonts.txt, because that's for older fonts. 

You could try changing the Music font to Finale Maestro, and back again. Otherwise, ask MM for support. 

First solution: change the font to Maestro in Finale 26, open it in Finale 27.1 and change the font back to November2.
Second solution: A document opened in Finale 27 with the font November2 - load the document options library from the FinaleMaestro directory. Then set the font back to November2.
Beware, even though Finale says so - November2 does not belong in MacSymbolFonts.txt. This is stated in the instructions for November2.

I'm having the same problem, and while Robert Ostermeyer solutions work, they also change all my document settings, which I won't work for me (I have hundreds of documents with very precise document options).

After I started to see how much had changed in my doc, I reloaded my settings library and the whole rests went back to being as Emile described above.  Help!

Having trouble importing into Finale 26? Do not activate automatic collision avoidance when importing older documents. With solution 2, this is apparently simply switched on, and you have no choice. I also fight with Finale 27 and find it very ugly! Now I had to discover a bug when printing. The document is shifted too far to the right and down. I just don't know if this is only the case under Windows and my German version.

You can fix this by going into Document Options->Notes and Rests->Rest characters->whole->select->Rests and select the glyph U+E4E3

This is restWhole in the November2 font.

J W Change will put the rest where ever you want them. It comes with Finale 27.3  (on Windows anyway)

Yes, but if you apply a manual position adjustment, instead of using the correct glyph, then all your rests are "actually" off by 1 space, even if they look ok when using November2. 

And you'll have to run that plug-in for every rest in every document, instead of making one correction in Document Options. 

You can select the entire document and run it once. Rest position can be set to zero or whatever adjustment you want.

It's not the optimal solution to the problem. 

I have used it several times and it seems to have worked well. Your choice, I just offered a solution.
