I'm running Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina. During startup Finale won't launch - I just get the bouncing icon and "application not responding".

I've uninstalled and re-installed. Same thing. Incidentally, when installing, the window with the option to uninstall previous versions of Finale flashes up for about 1/2 a second and goes away. Also when installing, it doesn't ask for permissions to access various files and folders.

I'm stumped.

Do you have any anti-virus apps running? If so, try turning them off, and downloading a fresh copy of the installer.

The download should be named FinaleSetup.dmg and the size is 3.14GB. If that's not what you are seeing then the download is incomplete. I used Chrome to download but was able to duplicate the result over Safari. There are reports that FireFox is having download issues with many sites along with a workaround until this problem is fixed.

Once the download was successful, I had no problem running the installers for 27.1 and Garritan Instruments for Finale.

Once I started Finale, it crashed a few times so I tried an old MacOS trick and held the Shift key down—this starts any app with extensions and plugins disabled, rebuilds corrupt paths and sets caches to default—and that worked getting me to the Trial screen. I then shut down and rebooted. Now 27.1 started correctly, loaded my plugins and took me to the Authorization/Trial screen. From there, I loaded a Default document.

My laptop runs MacOS 10.5.7 and I have Avira antivirus installed which I did not disable. Finale is not normally installed on this laptop and I used APFS Snapshots to restore this 2012 MacBook Pro to its previous state as soon as I tested this installation.
