Chord symbol problems

While I'm no expert at the chord symbol capacities, I've never run into this before – I'll type in "C7(b9)," for instance, and the program doesn't put a "flat" symbol in, it puts a box with a question mark preceding the "9". And I have to go in and edit the suffix and make that erroneous box a Number preceded by a Flat, and fiddle around respecting and re-font-ing. I've never had to do all this before.

Also, I want all the suffixes to be in Arial 11, and they're all in Times Roman or something inappropriate. Is there a way to change all the existing (not just future) suffixes to the font of choice? Why are they Times Roman (or whatever) in the first place? No cigar with the "Change Chord Suffix" thing. This all started with Finale 27, never had the drama before that.

I suppose that you, for the ♭, type a {lowercase b} - right?

In all text fonts the {lowercase b} is located in font slot #98.

In the old “legacy” music fonts (like e. g. Maestro) the ♭ is located in - exactly! - font slot #98.

* In the Chord Suffix Editor, what font is selected for the chord suffix accidental?

Whoa, Maestro is now a "legacy" music font? I must be out of step! What should I be using? – Finale Something Something, for standard publishing quality (i.e. no Jazz Font, etc. – straight-ahead professional print quality....)

The older, non-SMuFL, music fonts for Finale are now called “legacy fonts”.

The new (Finale v27) SMuFL fonts have all been giving font names beginning with ‘Finale’.

Example:

Maestro is the older “legacy font”.

Finale Maestro is the new SMuFL font.

Finale Maestro looks like Maestro, but Finale Maestro has - since it is a SMuFL font - its characters located in font slots according to the SMuFL standard.

Also, a SMuFL font (like Finale Maestro) has many more characters than a “legacy” font (like Maestro).

- Windows Finale of Mac Finale?
