Finale version 25 running on Windows 11.

All of my audio playback sounds like it is transposed down 6 or 7 octaves as it comes out warbled and distorted. If I export an audio file, it sounds fine but while I'm working, notes are all but impossible to discern and ensemble playback sounds like the tuba room at region band during a 30 second warm up. Any help or assistance is appreciated.

A few things: The first is that you've not told us anything about your setup nor how you are generating audio:

25 is not supported in Windows 11 but it might work. Try downloading and reinstalling 25. Make sure that you run both installers contained in the download. What happens?

If that doesn't work, try downloading the demo for 27 and see if that fixes you up.

Again, 25 is not supported in Windows 11. For direct support from MakeMusic, you'll probably have to upgrade.

I personally don't know or have any experience with Finale and WIndows 11. My Finale 27.2 and WIndows 10 is working perfectly. I had 25 and 26.3 on WIndows 10 and they both worked fine. There was a printer issue but MM fixed that.

From what you said all your sounds work correctly in other applications besides Finale. Correct? That certainly leads us to believe there is an issue with 25 and Win 11.

There is a nice sale gain on right now. Perhaps it is time to upgrade as 25 is not supported in WIn 11 by MM. (must be a reason)

Mike: The instant playback sounds when I input notes using the quick input method are what I'm talking about. Sorry about the lack of set up info. It's probably just that version 25 is old enough at this point that it's not compatible in Windows 11. I've tried re-downloading and re-installing multiple times and it still comes out the same. I didn't realize it had been so long since I had gotten the software.

Ernest: Thank you for the heads up on the sale! I'll take advantage of that.

I'll just upgrade and then I can be sure that it will work.

William,

I can only say Finale 27.2 is working great on WIndows 10. I don't have Win 11.

WIndows OS upgrades aren't like Mac OS. Usually stuff still works as it should. Let's hope that it is all it is, just incompatibility with 25 and WIn 11.

Update: I've upgraded to version 27 running on Windows 11 and I'm still running into the same issue. Audio playback within Finale is unrecognizable. It sounds garbled and 5 or 6 octaves too low. I'm running a 2021 Alienware M15 with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and 32GB of RAM. I can't figure out what's going on. I'll see if I can get some support directly from MakeMusic.

You will have to fill out all that info for support so do send it in. When you get a solution, please post it here so that others can be helped.

I did not think it a Windows 11 problem that's why I gave my caution. But now at least you have MM support. Plus upgrading to 27 is a worthwhile upgrade and at a nice price point.

If Finale ever worked correctly on your machine you need to go back and see what changed between then and when it didn't.

I think we can rule out the Win 11 upgrade. Do keep us informed of your progress.

Alright, I discovered the issue was that I have a Realtek Audio Driver which uses a different default sample rate than Finale's default sample rate. I went into my driver's audio settings and Finale's audio settings, made the sample rates match, and that seems to have fixed the issue. I'll let you know if anything else comes up.
