If I recall correctly, in the previous version if I am writing chords over a trumpet, I could write C7 and it would automatically translate to D7. This is not happening any more? Why? It was good, it is so stupid to change this feature. Is there a way to make it like that again in setting or something?

btw I own a Mac

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

1) I do not recall a Finale Chord Tool feature like what you describe, sorry.

2) As a workaround you can try

Document menu > Display in Concert Pitch

Now the Trumpet staff will display in the Concert Key.

When you enter as chord symbol (e. g. G7), it will display as entered (e. g. G7).

When you de-select {Display in Concert Pitch}, the chord symbols will automatically translate to the staff transposition.

3) Another way:

Enter the chord symbols in a staff for a C instrument (e. g. Piano).

Then, use the Copy Filter to copy only the chord symbols to the transposing staff.

Again, the chord symbols will automatically translate to the staff transposition.

I’ve been doing it as described in (2) for decades.
