NEW  HP laptop, I7 CPU, 16Gb RAM, large SDD,  Win 11 new install, patches current. MIDI device not connected, system has been restarted, Finale NOT reinstalled. No other app showing this behavior...

Does anyone have the solution or can recommend troubleshooting process or next steps...?

How do you start it (double-clicking on a Finale file or opening the application first)?

What happens (what do you see) when you do?

either one... and I normally click on the desktop icon...

the app seems to to open then freeze...

I get the large 'finale' logo in center screen, menus paint on top and left side of screen then nothing...

-if i monkey with, try to change screens, click on menu items, there is no activity,no changes...

- and eventually the app displays the  "Not Responding" message on the top window bar... with the pop-up dialog to

wait, end program...

I then 'End Program'

THANKS for your analysis and assistance...

Michael,

Have you sent this in to tech support? Use the Submit a Request tab at the top of the page.

I have exactly the same problem as Michael. Guess I'll try submitting a request to tech support.

Dennis,

My suggestion about Tech Support is three years old. TS no longer exists. Sorry.

As you have read, Tech Support for Finale is gone. I recommend one or both of the following:

1. Google "does finale 26 work in Windows 11". The answers boil down to yes, with quirks and workarounds. Exploring the many links and pages may find the solution.

2. Take advantage of the $149 crossgrade to Dorico 6 in your MakeMusic User account. This will include a license to Finale 27 as well as a license to Dorico 6 which is fully supported by Steinberg (Yamaha). By all accounts, though no longer supported, F27 works better in Win11 than F26. You don't have to run Dorico, of course, but you'll have a license with Tech Support and a much lively Users board if you do.
