Hello Finale users,

Does anybody know where I can purchase concert size paper?

Warmest regards,

I get mine from my local print shop. I have them cut it 9"x12" paper for me.

Does this mean you want to print your own music at home? I do, but you can run into some issues as all home printers will not print 9x12.  I have a Brother MFC-J 6545DW Business Smart large format printer. It does a fantastic job with 9x12 paper.

Here’s the current Amazon link

Agreed! Mine is the Brother MFC-J6935DW, an older model similar to the above but with two paper trays instead of one. Here’s a link to the current version.

Brother’s Inkvest ink cost is actually lower than toner for laser printers, they’ll scan both sides of a doc in one pass and they are very fast. They max at Tabloid (11” x 17”) and can’t do Super Tabloid (13” x 19”) unlike some very expensive inkjets from Epson so 12x18 is off the table but 9x12 — oh yea.

Back to the OP question. A full service printer buys paper in large sheets and cuts it down to size. Get to know a local shop and you’ll find out how much else they can do for you.

I have/had that printer too. We took it to school to print music there when I bought the one I have at home now. These are a few years old now so they probably do have a newer model out.

When someone buys a concert band piece from me they get a bound 9x12 score and 8 1/2x11 PDF parts. That way they have a nice score and can make all the PDF parts they need. I used to have the local print shop do all that but it is very expensive and you never know if anyone will buy it or even wants it!  Lots of leftover unneeded printing. And, cost! This way I just print as needed.

Thanx for the links Mike H. 😊

Office Depot and Officemax has 24 lb. and 28 lb. 8 1/2 x 11 bond paper on the shelf. No one I know of carries 9 x 12 bond paper as a in stock item.

At the risk of drifting back On Topic, 9x12 paper is very difficult to find online in the US. Robert Puff’s article and comments point to UK and EU sources. Again, full service printers are able to supply this as has been mentioned by two of us. Mine (32lb) is supplied by a local shop that I’ve been using for many years but I live in a metropolitan area where other local sources can be found.

Amazon does not carry 9x12 except in heavier weights but they do offer 18x12 32lb 100 White

You will need to cut it down yourself, of course, but they have paper cutters of all types at various price points. You want a  guillotine style rated for classroom or office use with a paper guide that can be locked in place.

Mike H ,
I worked for Hallmark Cards Inc in KC for 40 years in the Graphic Arts division. I am /was very familiar with paper. Hallmark owned its own paper mill and we bought from many vendors by the train car load. The link you provided brought back fond memories.
Thanx
