Rit doesn't work, even in human playback mode

I try to insert a retard prior to a fermatta. The fermatta works, but I have to add two or three 'rit' commands before the music will retard.

insert measure stack creates a very small measure

I insert 10 measure stacks. The new measures are small, very tight. I add some quarter notes to the measure, but the notes remain closely cramped in each measure.

Play back speed control has no effect

I used to be able to change the speed of the play back. I can change the number, but the playback still plays at the same speed. I don't have any tempo markings in this short piece. I am using huma...
