It could be because 2014.5 is not compatible with 10.14.

I believe it’s in the Window menu: Simple Entry Rests Remember, you can always enter a note, and tap the R key to turn it into a rest.

What is your operating system? Mac or Windows? What version?

When you log into your account, click the My Software tab. You should see your purchase of F26. When you redownload it, you will get the most current version.

You can download a fresh copy from your account at MM. You can also save your old libraries, etc., in a new location, before reinstalling.

I select the entire line, starting at the problem, and drag forward or backward to the correct position. You may have to delete a copied note or two at the beginning or end.

Have you tried the Split-Measure plugin?

I've never done it that way, so I tried it. It worked for me in F26. I selected the second half of the beat, and tapped DELETE. An eighth note/eighth rest was the result. So, thanks for the tip! ...
