Document Options > Beams will give you the option to beam over rests, I believe.

Barb, Have you tried the Move Rests... plugin, rather than hiding? Use a large number to move the rests off the page.

This may be a stupid question, and no offense is intended, but have you gone to the Window menu and selected the Smart Shape palette?

Have you sent it in to tech support as a feature request? In the meantime, don’t hold your breath waiting for a fix.

Have you tried dragging a corner of the palette, to see if it expands?

Just a thought… could you type it in Korean in a word processing app, and paste that onto the lyric window? Then click-enter or flow them onto the score.
