What he said. Look at the two side by side, and see which one is more pleasing to your eye? Unless a client demands one or the other, do what you like.

George, you might look into PopChar, available for both Mac and Windows. It makes life much easier for finding and inserting symbols. https://www.ergonis.com/products/popcharx/

None of these work in SongWriter. No plugins, and no way to hide time signatures after changing them. Sorry.

Look at the plugins JW Meter and Rhythm, and JW Conceal Barlines.

I never (in 20 years) have had to create those folders. Did you assign them somewhere else? What does it say in your preferences?
