I had no idea NotePad is still available. Windows only these days. It was ok for working with my students back in the day.
Finale 2014 does not install properly over High Sierra. If installed over an earlier MacOS and that machine is upgraded, the 2014.5 update may operate with limited functionality. It wil not run at ...

Did you reboot? If not, do that first. Catalina has added security "features" and some of them affect Finale. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491
