You need to know about Tuplets and the Tuplets Tool. You can search the Help files and watch the tutorials to learn about them. Best to do it from within Finale though here's a link to the 26 Manual and tutorials for Windows

Actually there are 3 Tuplet Tools:

1) The (general) Tuplet Tool on the Main Tool palette.

With this tool you can edit existing tuplets.

2) Both the Simple Entry Tool and the Speedy Entry Tool have a Tuplet (sub-)Tool, and both sub-tools have some convenient keyboard shortcuts.

With these two tools you can enter tuplets without leaving the Entry Tool.

There are several ways to enter a tuplet.

Depending on your actual way of entering tuplets you may not be able to end a measure with a tuplet without de-selecting Check For Extra Notes.

Thanks to all!  Yes the problem I was having was adding at the end of the measure. In my case the first tuplet would enter fine but the second one acted funny in different ways. I'll look this over as part of my never ending learning for this SW. Thanks again.
