Set the time signature for the first measure to 7/8 displayed as 12/8. This is a common strategy for creating pickup measures in Finale.

Am I correct in sensing that this is a problem confined to (newer) Mac Operating Systems? I have not noticed it on my PC and do not use my Mac much with Finale.
