I often export .xml and .mxl from Sibelius to import into Finale. Since last week, after exporting .mxl files from Sibelius, I get the message from Finale that the file is not in xml format. It worked beautifully for a long time, but not anymore.

Anyone aware of changes in Finale 25 that prevents these imports?

The suffix should be .xml, not .mxl, I assume. What is .mxl ? A compressed version ?

It would surprise me if Finale can’t open these. With the changes introduced in 25.3, there may be a setting that has to be made. I would use the Submit a request link at the top of the page to ask MM support. 

 

Perhaps Mr. Good will drop in and enlighten us.
