Finale requires certain operating system DLL files to be present and functioning in order to run properly. In some cases, if these files have become corrupted or are missing, Finale will report an error message when it launches.

Here is a list including (but not limited to) some examples of operating system DLL files...

  • MSVCP100.DLL
  • MSVCR120.DLL
  • MSVCR71.DLL
  • MFC120u.DLL
  • MSVCR100.DLL

Usually, this can be easily fixed by reinstalling a software package called Visual C++ Redistributable. The installers for these packages are provided by Microsoft, and you may need a specific version depending on your operating system.

In order to acquire the correct package, please contact Windows Support and let them know which DLL file is missing.
