There is a known issue on Windows for computers with high resolution monitors (Lenovo Yoga, Microsoft Surface Pro, etc.) that causes icons and text to display smaller than normal in Finale.
This issue is related to the default high resolution and corresponding DPI (dots per inch) settings on those computers. Our development team is aware and is working to correct the issue, but in the meantime follow the steps below to adjust your display settings.
Change your DPI settings
- Close any open programs.
- Hold down your Windows key and press the letter R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type "control panel" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
- Click the drop-down menu for View By and choose Small icons.
- Click Display.
- Click the checkbox for Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays, and click on Custom sizing options.
- Click the drop-down menu to select a DPI scaling size of 100%, and click OK.
- Click on Apply.
- If prompted, click on Sign out now to apply.
- Sign into your account.
Then, use the steps below to adjust your monitor's screen resolution:
- Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Display icon.
- Click on Change display settings.
- Click the drop-down for Resolution and lower the resolution of your display. A display resolution in the range of 1280x720 - 1920x1080 is recommended. These settings may need to be repeated if you have multiple monitors.
- Click OK and then click Keep changes.
- Open Finale and test the application.
In the event that changing both your display resolution and your DPI settings does not produce the desired results, please contact Customer Success.

- Press the WINDOWS key on your computer keyboard once to open the Start menu.
- Start typing

; a search will begin automatically. - Choose the Change display settings option that appears.
- Click the Change the size of text, apps, and other items drop-down menu and select a DPI scaling size of 200%, and click OK.
- Close the Settings window.
- Restart your computer.
Then, use the steps below to adjust your monitor's screen resolution:
- Use steps 1 - 4 above to reopen the Display settings window.
- Click the drop-down for Resolution and lower the resolution of your display. A display resolution in the range of 1280x720 - 1920x1080 is recommended. These settings may need to be repeated if you have multiple monitors.
- You may need to log out of your user account and log back in for the change in settings to take effect.
- Open Finale and test the application.
