Apple will release macOS 15 (Sequoia) on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Finale v27 is not compatible with Sequoia and will not be updated.

When opening a Finale Legacy Notation File (file extension .mus) in a more recent version of Finale on Windows, Finale presents the following informational message: 

The file "<title>.mus" was created with an earlier version of Finale®.
It will be opened as an untitled document and converted to the new Finale® format.
Your original file will not be changed.
Converting from version: Finale <version> for Windows

 

Warning message when opening legacy files

 

After clicking OK, your file will open in Finale.

 

Disabling this Message

If you prefer not to see this message when opening legacy files, you can disable it within Finale's Preferences:

  1. From the top menu, choose EditPreferences (Windows) or Finale Preferences (Mac). The Preferences dialog box appears.
  2. Select Open from the left sidebar.
  3. Deselect Require Confirmation after conversion of older documents and click OK.

Finale no longer displays the message shown above when open legacy notation files.
