When opening a Finale Legacy Notation File (file extension .mus) in a more recent version of Finale on Windows, Finale presents the following informational message:
The file "<title>.mus" was created with an earlier version of Finale®.
It will be opened as an untitled document and converted to the new Finale® format.
Your original file will not be changed.
Converting from version: Finale <version> for Windows
After clicking OK, your file will open in Finale.
Disabling this Message
If you prefer not to see this message when opening legacy files, you can disable it within Finale's Preferences:
- From the top menu, choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Finale > Preferences (Mac). The Preferences dialog box appears.
- Select Open from the left sidebar.
- Deselect Require Confirmation after conversion of older documents and click OK.
Finale no longer displays the message shown above when open legacy notation files.
