I'm editing/engraving a method book and I need to include isolated notes and rests (not in a staff) on pages of text. I can do this just fine except for half and whole rests. In all the music fonts I've tried so far, when I type them in Pages the whole and half rests are simple rectangles, barely different from each other and without the little lines going off to left and right that make them look specifically like whole and half rests (the "upside down hat" and "right side up hat"). Is there a font that comes with Finale where typing these rests makes them look the way they're supposed to? If not are there other fonts I can download?

I'm using Finale 26 on macOS Big Sur.

Elijah Shiffer,

Do you have any SMuFL fonts?

The symbols you need, are in the font slots 1254 (U+E4F4) and 1255 (U+E4F5).

If you do not have any SMuFL fonts, download and install the Finale 27 demo (or Dorico, or …)

You can also take screen shots of the rests in staves. Shift Command 4 lets you grab the portion of the screen you need and saves to your desktop as a .png. You can change it to a .jpg by altering the suffix.

I expanded a couple measures to different sizes before grabbing these screenshots.
