Microsoft Windows 8 - If I spend the $120 or so for this program, do I have to purchase an access code or something every year? This is just a one time purchase, correct? Assuming I'm alright with keeping the version I bought.

Major upgrades (every 2 years or so) to Finale are a one-time purchase. Between the major upgrades, minor updates are free. You can keep using the installed version free of additional charge for as long as you want.

Finale does not use subscription licensing like, say, the current versions of Microsoft and Adobe products among others. 

The license works as long as your OS supports the versions you have. Major upgrades, yes, but no renewal fees.
