My old desktop died so I had to install on a new desktop.  Now I can't find them.  I click on a measure with the expression tool, go down to rehearsal marks and it is blank. Are they in a library that I have to open?  There is an "A",  "B" listed in the "All" category, but they are not the nice automatic rehearsal tools that I am used to.
Any help would be appreciated!

I figured it out.  Song originated in an older version. I exported it to an XML, then imported it back in.  BAM up to date!  I'd still like to know if it is possible to bring an older file up to the most current version when I open it.  I usually let everything go to default when opening older files.

Perhaps the older version of Finale did not have the feature Automatic Rehearsal Marks.

That could explain why the document did not contain automatic rehearsal marks.

It will ask to save in the current version and will make a new copy. If the name is identical, it will let you know that the old file will be overwritten. Finale will not overwrite a .mus with a .musx, however.

If everything opens up and saves ok, then great. It is not unusual to have to export the data as .xml and reimport it, however. The older the old version is, the most likely.

Sometimes it's just a matter of reselecting currently supported fonts. This is often an issue for those of us working on versions where the default fonts were Sonata or Palatino or who used 3rd party fonts that are no longer compatible or installed.

Unless Finale 25 has changed this, old files (from versions before expressions were split into categories) still pose the risk of leaving all expressions in the Misc. category if simply opened in a newer version of the program.
