  • Operating System: Mac 10.13.2 (High Sierra)
  • Software Version: Finale 2014.5
  • Ensemble Type: Mariachi (voice, violins, trumpets, vihuela/guitar, guitarron)

Is there a way to get a vihuela/guitar part to playback the entered rhythms without having to put the chord symbol over every note?

To be clear, the chords play but only on the note to which they are attached (so only on beat 1 of Screen Shot A below). I had to mute layer 1 of the vihuela staff in the score manager because the pitch B was sounding with the entered rhythm regardless of the indicated chord (see Screen Shot B below).

Screen Shot A

Screen Shot B - This is what I was hearing upon playback prior to muting layer 1 on this staff.

(At which point I would Mute the Chords in the Score Manager pull-down for the vihuela.)

And that's not nearly as time consuming as it looks. After you've entered it once, copy and Paste Multiple will fill out the score in no time!

Ah, that seems like an easy fix. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

In music notation software like Sibelius or Finale, you can typically achieve playback of chord symbols without having to input them on every note by utilizing the appropriate playback settings or plugins.

Again with a nonsensical response to a 6 year old post.

No doubt, Ernie. I'm beginning to think there's nobody there.
