This problem only affects longtime Finale users with old fonts installed in their system. If you follow the instructions in that thread to install the latest Finale fonts in your system, it should fix you up.

My problem is with other fonts than finale shipping fonts.
I reinstalled as mentioned but it has no effect on my problem.

The fonts are for example : Crescendo, GraceNote, and some custom fonts my published uses...

What is the reason that everything is ok in F2014.5 and not in 25.4 ???

It looks like they are not available to 25. If they cannot be found in Library/Fonts, put them there and see if that solves your problem.

If they are sitting in Users/(user)/Library/Fonts or anywhere else, Finale probably can't find them. Since OS 10.7, fonts should not install there—remove and reinstall per the directions I gave in the other thread.

If your fonts are in application folders, open and click Install Font to put a copy into Library/Fonts. 

25 is the symptom, not the problem. It's that earlier versions did not handle fonts the way that Apple specifies now.

So i have published pieces from less than 10 years ago, that use very fine fonts that I cannot use anymore because they are not available in 25 ?
I hope this is a joke and that somebody from MM will chime in to give me a good explanation.

And since when OSX fonts cannot be installed in the user directory font folder ? that's madness...

You are completely missing the point. If your fonts are properly installed, any Mac application can use them including Finale 25. I've told you how and if there's something you don't understand, I am happy to answer as I check in over the weekend.

If your point is to argue and complain, I'm not interested. I don't work for MM and if you don't care for my help, I'm done with this thread.

But we have a communication problem here...

I use many fonts since I started with Finale in 89 and with the latest 25.4 version, third party fonts don't display anymore.
I am loosing time over something that should be working. period. Don't make it sound as if it was my fault here..

Now : my fonts are properly installed. I can see them and use them with any software in my machine, included Finale 2014.5.
Whatever the workaround to install fonts you are proposing : It didn't work for my problem

It doesn't (and I should not have to do this for fonts to work in v25.4 as it does in 2014.5.

Why would Finale not find fonts that are in a legitimate unix font folder ?

Please explain...
Every other app I have sees all the fonts I have in there and this is the normal directory for user's fonts. Unix is a multiuser system right ?

Please, I want make music to explain clearly here what is the problem with third party fonts ,and Finale 25.4 inability to see these fonts in Users/Library/Fonts.

The only new thing regarding fonts since v25 is that shipping fonts are bundled within the application itself in contents/resources.

You might also open a support ticket. This is a user-based forum, and MM may not be directly monitoring it.

Put those fonts in Library/fonts and see if it fixes your problem. It will or it won't.

Really? I'm more interested in trying to get 25 to see your fonts. The solution I offered should work.

Which library, Mike? User, or system?

- putting the fonts in Library/fonts and/or Users/Library/Fonts did not work for 25.4
- Mike's solution (to install/validate the font by double clicking on it) did not fix the problem either.
- I did make a ticket with MM. The responses so far make me wan't to cry... I've never seen such level of incompetence.

Let's leave it there.
I hope they fix this soon and don't let the users struggle with these kind of problems...
