Hi,

I downloaded Adobe Flash Player, after requested by Finale PrintMusic 2014 to do so, when attempting to play a tutorial video from an item in the available list. I successfully installed the Adobe Flash Player, yet when I go to open the video tutorial item, there is nothing shown below the item after clicking on it - all blank. I refreshed, and nothing happened. I must be missing a step in the process. I am a new MacPro user (switched from PC 3 months ago) so any help is greatly appreciated.

I was trying to find a video to show me how to use the articulation item so I could put a neutral symbol in and then later use this to put the B flat back in. I cannot get the articulation (vertical oriented box shape) to stay on the B key - keeps wanting to go to either the C or A key when I have music keyed with a B flat.

Hi Mike,

My music teacher wanted me to put a “neutral” (I think it is called this) in front of the first “box turned on its corner” - both to be on the B key (I cannot get it on this key) in the 4th measure. In the 8th measure, I am to put the box on the B key again, but this time, with a “flat” sign on the B key. I cannot figure out how to do this using the articulation tool.

Your screen shot shows a Harp part.

Are you talking about harp pedalling symbols?

Indeed it would make sense to pedal the B flat strings to B natural during the 4th measure since there are B naturals in the 6th measure and in the 7th measure.

You need to pedal back to B flat strings in the 8th measure since the 8th measure ends with a B flat.

An idea:

Instead of using the Articulation Tool, consider using the Expression Tool - might be a little easier.

I don't know how PrintMusic is using Flash — or even that it is. Flask Player normally opens in your browser. As of 2017, this is normally disabled by default due to security concerns—you must go into your browser settings to let it know when Flash Player is enabled and under what conditions. In my case, I have it set to run for certain web sites; others must ask for it to be enabled

You say say that you downloaded it but did you download the correct version? There are two. One supports Safari and Firefox only while the other supports Chrome and Opera only.

Flash was supposed to be dead by 2017. All four major browsers announced this in 2014. That didn't happen as developers have been slow to convert content to the much safer HTML5. I use a major CRM platform and if it is having issues with Flash, it's unusable.

In your System Preferences, there is a Flash control panel where you can check to see that you have the latest version installed and can set it to update automatically. It will only show the version(s) you've installed. This is different than setting your browser preferences saying when it can run. Because my day gig is dependent on it, I have it set to update automatically without notifying me.

OK, in 2014, the browser makers/consortiums declared this would happen last January and and Adobe is extending it another 4 years to give more time for everyone more time to embrace HTML5 but, as the Chambers Brothers used to sing, "Time Has Come Today! Hey!" (preparing the music for my high school reunion next week so I've been listening to that a lot lately).
