I am using windows 10 and Finale v.25. I wanted to create a score using the jazz band default and when it opened my computer is using the wrong font. Can someone please guide me through finding the correct font (Broadway?) for the score.
Thanks
There are several ways to create a new document in Finale.
Which way are you using (= what steps are you following)?
Basically there are 3 folders with ready made documents you can use for new documents.
Since I do not know your steps, I do not know which of the 3 folders you are using.
When you choose
File menu > New > Document From Template…
then Finale will usually display a directory dialog box showing the contents of the folder Music Files, containing 3 sub-folders (or showing the sub-folder Templates):
1) In the sub-folder Default Files you have the files
Handwritten Default
Jazz Font Default
Maestro Font Default
where {Handwritten Default} uses the Broadway Copyist font.
2) In the sub-folder Document Styles you have the files
Engraved Style
Handwritten Style
where {Handwritten Style} uses the Broadway Copyist font.
Also, in the sub-sub-folder Band there is the file Jazz Band which uses Broadway Copyist.
3) In the sub-folder Templates you have the sub-sub-folder Band Templates which contains the file
Jazz Band (Handwritten)
This template is set up as a complete Jazz Band score - with 2 Alto Saxes, 2 Tenor Saxes, &c.
It is a font issue. I can use any one of the three methods he mentioned but I still have the wrong font. I believe that the "broadway font" used in the handwritten style of finale is not loaded on my computer. When I open a file using the jazz band template my computer is trying to use "wingdings" as the font rather then the broadway copist. Can I download this font from the MakeMusic website?
