If you are a Windows user and have not installed the .4 update, avoid doing so at all costs. I have had 2 documents corrupted and lost three days of work. Makemusic still has not found a solution. I have taken the precaution of uninstalling 25 altogether and am not going to utilize any further.

Praying for fast developments on Dorico.

Many others are having it, Mike, as confirmed by MM.

I submitted the issue on Tuesday to the Community on Tuesday. Also to MM. Neither entity has found a solution.

My warning stands.

Hi All,

Just wanted to jump in and mention that what Edward is running into is a recent program error that was reported to our development team yesterday. The issue in a nutshell is that Finale files that use components (like a percussion MIDI Map, embedded graphic, audio file, etc.) that have a special character (like an ampersand, <, >, etc.) are having trouble being reopened.

As you can imagine, this only affects certain files; however, our development team is working hard to implement a fix. In the meantime, our Customer Success team can fix any files that run afoul of this issue. For more information and/or to be updated when more information is available, please check out/follow this article.

It goes without saying that this is a frustrating and workflow hindering problem, and as such this issue's resolution is a top priority for our development team. If you do happen to come across this problem, please use the Submit a request link at the top of this page for further assistance.

Here to help!

To clarify on Lawson's post: On Tuesday when I submitted the original problem document, I begged Makemusic to send me a rollback on the update. They ignored this request until last night, by which time I'd had to recreate the document in question from scratch, and another smaller one, thus setting me back three days.

The "fixed" document they sent me last night still won't open due to the same issues.

To Lawson's clarification about problematic components: this document is a cello sonata utilizing only two instruments, neither of which involve percussion maps, nor to the best of my knowledge any of the other components he or his colleague listed last night.

I have therefore uninstalled 25 altogether and will be blocking any other updates from Finale.

I am now signing off on all communications on this for the next three days to try and catch up. My warning stands.
