I downloaded the latest version from the site.  after unzipping the files, the installer is asking for disk 1.  i'm installing from my download folder on my hard drive.  what's up?  do I need to put the files on a cd just to install?

Your result is not typical (not to mention truly bizarre). If you downloaded the files via the Chrome browser, some users have had difficulty with that and suggested using a different browser. Regardless, you may want to try downloading and installing again.

If that doesn't work, use the "Submit a request" link above to submit your problem directly to MakeMusic staff. Realize that the staff will likely be off for the weekend.

Hi Jeffrey,

Sounds like the files in the FinaleSetup may not have extracted properly (even though you did mention unzipping them). To clarify, the Finale installer is looking for the two .bin files found in the extracted FinalSetup folder. For other's reading this thread, this information applies to Windows only.

Could you first try right-clicking the FinaleSetup.zip folder and choosing Extract All?

If you've already tried that, or don't have that option, did you use a third party extraction software, like 7-zip or WinRAR to extract the files? If so, could you try using Windows Explorer's built-in option instead? You should be able to do so by opening the .zip folder, choosing the Extract button form the ribbon at the top of the window, and selecting Extract All or Extract All Files option.

Here's a knowledge base article with some more information.

Please let us know how this goes!

P.S. If the issue persists: what version of Windows are you running?
