Our school system like many others uses laptops and docking stations for our teachers. We have docks in our offices and in the rehearsal space connected to a ViewBoard. With v26 I have to close the program before removing it from the dock otherwise when I reopen the program it is frozen with a message saying audio engine failure. This also typically means I have lost any work that I have done if I forget to save. Is there any way to fix this?
Have you talked with your school's DBA or Tech Administrator about this. He or she might understand how the network setup might affect disconnected Chromebooks. I know I would never advocate unplugging the computer from any peripheral while running a program, at least until I understood the implications.
Unfortunately, “did not have this problem with previous versions” does not give us a clue as to what might be happening. We need a lot more info.

If the students store their files on a server, for example, this message is to be expected if the app isn’t shut down first.
