This doesn't appear to work.  Any hints?  I've tried trawling through various bits of "help" but this tool, so vital for people using this program for much fancier stuff than I do, doesn't seem to get a mention.  I get a display of the "ear" icon, but nothing further.

Margaret Johnson,

We may need a little more info from you:

1) Windows Finale or Mac Finale?

2) What version of Finale? - v26? - v25? - or?

Hi Peter.  This feature does play now, intermittently - I can't see that I am doing anything different when it doesn't.  My problem now is that the cursor moves several bars behind the play, which would not be quite so bad if it did not halt when I try to move the score on with the cursor arrow.  I'm wondering if this is due to having had to hide several barlines in order to achieve compensation for a pickup bar in a previous movement. Sorry, I should have checked before writing, though I seem to remember the problem happens in the first movement too.  In any event, can you point me to a way of adjusting where the cursor appears?  It's windows, finale version 26.

Margaret,

Unfortunately I am using Mac Finale, and I know very little about Windows Finale.

Hopefully a Windows user will chime in with some ideas for you.

Do you have Finale on any other drive besides the System?

If not, that is often caused by a plugin. Way too many to list will exhibit this behavior—the plug has to process the audio first.
