So after reading several posts, basically we have to buy the new version of finale for us to continue to

use Finale after upgrading/updating from Sierra/High Sierra to Mojave or later > YES?

Will makemusic/finale even consider a patch update for us to continue to use our current versions? or will we be forced to purchase V25?

please advise

thank you for your time

They will not consider a patch. Any and all support at all for 2014.5 was ended on March 1, 2019. End of story.

You will have to upgrade. Keep in mind, if you go beyond Catalina (if you can even upgrade your Mac to that point,) you will need 26 or the promised soon 27.

Both 25 and 26 are compatible with Mojave. You would have to ask sales about the upgrade price to 27. There usually is a grace period when a new version comes out, for people who just bought the last one.

However, since 27 will be full 64-bit, I don’t think you will be able to use it on Mojave.

Sorry for all the nickle and dime questions...

Will V25-27 work with win 10 or whatever MS decides to come up with soon? and will V25/26 be updated for mojave/catalina mac OS for a while?

Looking ahead at the mac push for mac BigSUR, will v's 25-27 be compatible?

It seems like just when you get used to working with a program... everything changes or becomes outdated. LOL

thank you for your time in answering my questions. I'm sure there are a lot of peeps in my situation.

Big Sur will definitely work with 26 and 27. I know nothing from Windows.

Huh? 26 and 25 are both full 64 bit. This is no guarantee that 27 will work over Mojave. The minimum System Requirement for 26 is MacOS 10.12 Sierra. For 25, it was 10.10 Yosemite. Since MacOS 10.14 Mojave is still an Apple supported OS through November ‘21, it will surprise me if 27 does not also support it.

Had you paid attention to those posts you claim you read, you’d know that this question was settled nearly 5 years ago. MacOS 10.13 High Sierra and later cannot run 32 bit apps. Finale 25 and later are 64 bit only.

The issue is not with Finale being 64-bit. The issue is with modern OS’s no longer supporting 32-bit applications (understandably). So if someone is trying to run an older version of Finale that is not 64-bit, it will not run with Mojave or Big Sur.
