My Finale 2014 will not open at all until I install the legacy Java SE6 runtime, and I push the more information button which sends me to Java, and there is no mention of Java SE6 there.  I have installed the Java that is there and I still can't open Finale 2014. HELP!!!!!

Correct. Java 6 predates the sale of SUN to Oracle. 

 

You don't say what OS you are on. If on a Mac, you must download it from Apple. There are other versions but this is the only version that works on Yosemite or El Capitan.
