I can't decide if I want to upgrade from Finale 2012 to Finale 25 for Windows 10, and after reading all the comments about issues and problems, I don't know if I want to. Is anyone 100% happy and free of problems? I realize that the number of Finale 25 users who bother with this support is probably quite small, still I hope to hear that someone is running the new version with no problems.

Hi Martin

I'm happy with Finale 25.

The benefit of being able to play larger scores with lots of instruments with no distortion outweighs any issues.

I've not encountered anything major and small irritations are holdovers from previous versions (such as the Midi Tool)

One big caveat. I'm not that concerned with appearance and printing. I mainly use Finale for playback, so my experience is limited to note entry (exclusively simple entry) and playback. In those two areas, I'm happy.

I have noticed that Windows version seems to have gathered less problem reports (ie people posting a problem here or on the old forum) than the Mac.

Cheers...

Daz :o)

I hate it!!! Two new macs, many fresh installs, new templates from scratch...same old clicks, pops, crackles. No one cares, no one helps. Lots of money spent by me over the years...I feel betrayed with the lack or rather no support.

Since I started this, I feel compelled to comment again. The good news is I have no problems at all - none - with Finale 25 on Windows 10. I have not had a single crash, no garbled pages. Playback is fine. Sorry to hear that its giving problems on a new Mac, but given the way Apple updates seem to make some software unstable or unusable, maybe its the Mac and not Finale?

Scott,

Have you tried contacting MakeMusic support directly via the "Submit a request" link at the top of the page? Since those who have responded here have not experienced your problem, perhaps contacting MM directly can offer you help.

I’m liking it a lot. It’s not the speediest workflow but it does things no other notation app can.

Some things don’t work the way they used to. I got with it quickly. Having the Help files open on another window or tablet helps while yoou’re getting up to speed.

I no longer get soundtrack work. Since my handicap, I work too slowly for those deadlines. If I did, I’d be missing the movie window. There are workarounds.
