I need to place a mordent or accent on a note that has a slur. The accents work the way I want with the articulation "outside" the slur. The slur looks good. But the mordents are placed "inside" the slur, making the slur some distance from the note. The slur looks ungainly. How can I force the mordent to be outside the slur and behave the same as the accent?

Articulation Definition > Slur Interaction > Your choices are Auto Inside/Outside, Always Inside, and Ignore. I chose the Auto setting, and it jumped outside. But the Auto setting may depend on the particular note/slur relationship, so YMMV.

In my test, it looks worse outside, but what do I know?

Hi Mike (Rosen) , thank you, I had not noticed that setting of auto/inside/outside. The setting options are ignore, always inside and auto inside/outside. There is no always outside, but ignore seems to allow me to position the slur and articulation as needed.

Hi Mike (Halloran) It is amazing how quickly someone from somewhere around the world answers the questions here. I apologise for omitting important information like the OS, etc. The OS is Mac Sonoma 14.4.1. The version of Finale is 27.4.1.146, the latest version. I keep finale up to date.

Mike Rosen gave me the answer so no need to follow up.
