Good afternoon

I have regularly XML exported from Finale 26 to Sibelius Ultima without mishap but today, despite frequent attempts, with a string orchestra piece, it only exports the 1st Violin part, not the whole work. Why? What have I touched that I shouldn't have?

Thank you for getting back to me. There's not much to add really. I complete the score on Finale 26 (String Orch.). Save it, open 'File', open 'Export', click on 'MusicXML' button. This takes me to a file to save it (MUSICXM file). Save it and the score briefly 'explodes'. Save and close Finale 26.

Open Sibelius Ultimate. Click on 'MusicXML' button and the score opens, but not with the whole score - only the 1st violin part.

NB I am doing a music degree which requires me to use Sibelius. I have used Finale for over 10 years and I am rather more adept on that - but not adept enough to sort out the above, obviously. Also, I have NOT changed any of the settings - to my knowledge.

Jon,

This all worked correctly before? It just started happening pom this current file. The first ting I would try is to reset preferences.

If that doesn't work can you u/p to Dropbox or Google drive and share the link so one of use can look the file over. I am sure we can find the issue.

You know Finale 27.4 has upgraded xml ability perhaps a good time to update.

To Ernie's point, Sibelius never adopted MusicXML 3.1 (introduced in 25.4 and 26) or 4 (Finale 27). MakeMusic's free Dolet 8 plug-in adds 3.1 and 4 capability to the latest builds of Sibeluis. If you've not installed it yet, do so.

Finale has the ability for you to determine what build of MusicXML your files should be exported as. Since very few apps support 3.1 or 4, my default is MusicXML 3.0 (Sibelius required the Dolet 6 plug-in for 3.0 and there was never a 7 for Sibelius). Oh, Validate against DTD needs to remain unchecked. The server used to validate was shut down.
