I am using a Mac Book Pro Mid 2012 running 10.11 (El Capitan).   I am unable to use the Smart Shape Tool to add anything except slurs.    If I attempt to add a hairpin, or anything else, nothing happens.   If I'm on a page in the score containing slurs, the existing slur handles appear when I click the hairpin tool, no matter where in the score I place the cursor.  Help!  I need hairpins!

What version of Finale?

It sounds like the Virtual Stuck Key Syndrome. Log out and back in to your user account, or restart the computer.

I have been talking with someone from Finale Support on this for a while. I was messing with stuff and may have discovered a cause for this. I have noticed it seems to happen when I open a different program for a few minutes. If I open google chrome and go check my email then go back to finale the glitch seems to start. I've tested this several times and it seems to happen every time. Wondering if anyone else can confirm this or maybe it's just my computers "trigger".

Edit: It appears I actually can only get this to happen with google chrome
