 I installed the latest version of Finale and it will not playback at all unless I am on the cheesy play through midi option.  I want to the good play through audio units option.  It HAD been working properly in the last version so this is new.  I noticed that I can hyperscribe from my keyboard OK, and that is usually the issue with an update so this time it is backwards.  What is going on and how can I fix it?  Thanks.

25.2 made some changes in the way audio is handled. You will need to read the Read Me and then look through the Help files to figure out what's wrong with your system. I have no issues with the setup on my Mac (you mentioned Audio Units).

It it would have been nicer if you didn't have to go online to find this but that's not the way they are thinking over at MM.

Success!  I followed the easy directions to download Garritan, BUT found after seeing the three options (two of which were to be deselected) that I had to go one more step that actually did lengthy instal and I do not remember having that take place when I first dowloaded Finale 25.  For now, all is well.  Thanks for the help.

Does anyone have any idea why I cannot import a tiff file now?  My v. 2014.5 does it OK.  Thanks.

.tiff import was dropped in Finale 25.

You can use 2014 and import that file into 25.

 

You upgrade your copy of Smart Score Lite to Smart Score X2 Pro like I did a few years ago. Not only is it a lot more accurate but it supports MusicXML 3.0 like Finale. X2 can recognize a lot more expressions and lyrics. It takes far less time to use than SS Lite which is why I did the upgrade.

The instructions are stuck in the PPC age unfortunately with nonsense about TWAIN drivers and HP All-in-Ones etc. Likewise, scanning within the app crashes. If you use Image Capture.app, part of the Mac OS to scan, it works  great. You can also work from .pdf files — no need to print, then scan.
