Hi,

I am using OS X 10.10 and I just downloaded the free trial of Finale 25, yet I cannot find my serial number anywhere. What should I do? I can't access the program without it.

Thanks.

  • It should be on the Help > About Finale menu in your former version of Finale.
  • Alternately you can log into the MyAccount section of the FinaleMusic.com web site to see the serial numbers of all the products you have purchased from MakeMusic in recent years.

You shouldn't need a serial number for the demo. It will work for 30 days, and then you will lose the ability to save or print. When you purchase the program, you will recieve a serial number to activate the program.

At least, that's how it used to work.

Which Mac operating system are you using?

(I'm taking it that, once you downloaded the demo, you ran the install program and have restarted your computer.)

Assuming that you ran the installer (did you?) Finale.app should be in your Applications folder.

You still have not said what version of the operating system you are running. It makes a difference.

They said OSX 10.10 in the original post. I am having the same issue in Big Sur. I downloaded the free trial while logged in to my account. I can't activate without a serial number, but there IS no product listed on my makemusic account. The finale demo program is not showing up there.

To clarify, Yes i ran the installer. Yes, the app is there. But when I open the ap it asks me to register my product and will not launch the program without a serial number.

You should have the option to run in Demo mode which lasts for 30 days and is fully functional except for Garritan Instruments for Finale. If you have GIFF installed from a previous install, the 27 demo can access them. This does not require a serial number.

If you do not see the Demo option, use the Submit a request link at the top of the page to let Support help you.

Hi Gina,

You can certainly use Finale in trial mode without a serial number, this is how the trial is intended to work. When you launch the program and the Authorize Finale dialog opens, click the Remind Me Later button. The program will then launch for you after that.
