I got it yesterday and except for a slightly different GUI, I don't see any or at least significant upgrades. They claim some bug fixes. The editor is still cumbersome.

Well I could have said worse, the truth, because it really is poorly thought out. I learned to only scan very clean and good originals and ones that are not complex perhaps no more than a quintet. Even then, I immediately export XML and do any and all edits in Finale.

BTW, this is nearly the same reason that I don't use Musescore. If you like and want the way MuseScore lays out your score it's not bad but if you want anything else or you want to edit something, good luck. It may be the same reason I don't like any of the other music editing apps because Finale lets you edit or move any and every thing very simply. The others do not.

I'll never convince either of you, so I won't try. But I think you're doing a disservice to the folk who can get a real benefit from SmartScore. I've done hundreds of scores with it, mostly choral, and it's saved me thousands of hours. 'Nuff said.

I use it when needed, absolutely. Why else would i have posted about the update?

Although most of my work is choral, I’m making new arrangements. Importing another score and editing to what I need is time consuming in SS. It’s easier for me to start from scratch.. This is not the case when adapting works for a local orchestra where I’m adapting a work in the library to the available instrumentation . SS is a tremendous time saver here.

Perhaps the disservice is your view and not ours! Hmmm....?

Could be, Ernie. But SmartScore is as necessary to my workflow, as Perfect Layout and Note Performer are to yours. And what would be your comments if I bought both, never bothered to learn how to use them effectively, and denigrated their value to everyone?

Can we leave it at that?
